Chapter 4 Occupational Therapy

 


What technologies are there for occupational therapy or for an occupational therapist to offer to students that have disabilities?


Physical Keyboards

This is a keyboard that is hardware. 


Keyboard Apps or Programs

These are electronic keyboards. This can be an app for an iPad or a program that creates a keyboard for a computer. 


Annotation Programs

This is a program that allows you to write or type on PDFs or pictures. This is helpful for people with fine motor coordination issues. 


Exercise Apps 

These are apps that have you do exercises to improve fine motor coordination.


Typing Programs

These are programs that have you practice typing or keyboarding skills.


Sensory Issues

Sensory issues are related to the senses. This is typically associated with autism spectrum disorders. However, an individual can have sensory issues without having a form of autism. This can be anything related to the senses. This can mean eating food, sound, visual, and definably tactile.
